EAST WALKER WEATHER OR NOT!

Filed under: Guide Trip Reports,Regional Travel Reports,River Reports — Peter at 1:46 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2011

There was a high wind advisory in effect it’s already blowing 25 to 40mph and I am on my way to the East Walker river with my client Gary from Texas. As we drove to the river we talked about how crazy we are to be going in these conditions.I told Gary I was counting on a small area of the river that may be fish-able in the high winds. After driving through snow, wind, and rain we made it to the river. We wadered and bundled up and got out there to try our luck.At first the wind was blowing making casting and mending a little difficult, after a little instruction on how to fish in the wind it was fish on!Gary landed a nice brown trout to start the day.It turned out to be a great day of fishing with numerous browns and rainbows landed. We quit fishing early very satisfied with our day and glad we decided to go regardless of the weather at the lake when we left. This just goes to show how the East Walker can fish during this time of year weather or not!We have guides available daily all year long.Take a break from the ski hill for a good day of fly fishing, you will not regret it!
