Guided Float Trips
Trinity River Fly Fishing
Steelhead Fishing At Its Finest!
Now Offering Full-Day Guided Drift Boat Trips with Peter Santley on the Trinity River.
Flowing just over 130 miles from headwaters to ocean, the Trinity River provides our guides with countless opportunities to select the most productive sections of water to fly fish each day. Dam controlled fall and winter flows are normally low and provide over 40 miles of prime floatable Steelhead hoarding water. The main Steelhead season runs from October through March, but fish can be hooked in the Trinity year-round. The most productive method of fly fishing the Trinity River is by specially equipped drift boats. A drift boat allows guide and angler to cover miles of water allowing for the best chances of finding productive waters and hooking Steelhead.
On our trips, anglers can fly fish the Trinity with a variety of methods, but dead drifting nymphs and swinging flies are the most productcive methods of hooking fish. The average Steelhead in the Trinity River ranges from 4 to 8 pounds, but 10 pounders are a definite possibility. A few lucky anglers get the chance to land the occasional 15 pounder. The last few seasons have seen record-breaking numbers of Steelhead in the Trinity River system. If there is any anadromous river in California that screams Steelhead, this is it.
