Last chance to sign up for guide 2017 guide school. Winter jobs are winding down, ski resorts are closing up, and summer time is almost here! Do you have a passion for fishing, outdoors, and sharing all of it with people? If you do have you ever thought about becoming a fly fishing guide? Our annual guide school is a great way to get a feel for what it really takes to be a successful fly fishing guide. Ill give you a hint being a great angler is NOT the only trait that makes you a good guide. People skills, teaching skills, organization, punctuality, and of course knowing your waters are a few of the traits of a great guide. Our instructors come from different back rounds so we can give you a better understanding of the different opportunities for guides. From walk wade to drift boats, from local waters to Alaska, and independent to working in a partnership of an outfitter.
One of the greatest parts of being a guide to me is that first fish stoke. Whether its a 10 year old with his first fish ever or its the retired guy who has fished all over but never “on the fly”. To me it just doesn’t get any better. Another perk is of course the fact that we spend all summer rite where we want to be, on the water. With no normal 9-5 schedule and no monotony of showing up at the same office to punch the clock day after day you really can just live in the moment. Not a day goes by that i don’t take a few moments to look around and take it in. If this sounds like you than feel free to call the shop or contact any of us directly for more info. We do have a few spots still open but we will be finalizing our lesson plans next week based on the amount of students.
