We have had a lot of run off this year but it is truly game on rite now. Very fishable flows from the East Walker to the Big Truckee rite now guys! I am hoping to get on the East Carson here the next few days and if I can get the chance will be down the the East Walker ASAP! Caddis, caddis, caddis along with PMDS, Tricos, and of course midges. Look for fish to be spread out during the day, hit anything “fishy” looking. Water temps are warm enough that fish will chase a streamer, even give your nymph rigs a few tugs at the end of the drift you will be surprised!
The only issue rite now is smoke from wildfires burning in California and Nevada rite now. It’s a wind direction thing. Our typical summertime wind direction is SW and anything in the high sierra has the potential to pump smoke and ash our way. Everyday is different and using area web cams can be a huge advantage. Fires themselves as of rite now are not a direct threat but prolonged exposure to heavy smoke would not be pleasant. Keep an eye on wind forecasts but get your butt on the water because it is Game On!
