It’s here those long summer days we dream of all winter. Summer bugs ants, beetles, caddis, pmds, etc. It has been hot up here for a while but with the high cold flows the fish were still behaving like it was early June. Sometime over the last ten days tho(depending on which body of water) the switch was flipped.
Look for fish to be a bit more spread out instead of just fishing the deep buckets with heavy nymph rigs try dry droppers in the soft edges. A stimulator with a soft hackle is always a good starting point. Don’t be afraid to “skitter” those drys either. Temps are about perfect and trout love to chase a big big in distress.
Fishing mid day will start to slow a bit depending on where you are. Think about getting out early or staying late. We always say a head lamp should be involved, either that early or that late! We have been incredibly busy guiding lately but with our large roster of guides we can normally get you out there. Give the shop a call or stop by if you are in the area. See you out there-J
