Fishing-300x124[1]

East Carson River Fishing Report – Currently flowing at 90+ CFS and fluctuating.

The catch and release section below Hangman’s Bridge:  Open year round and traditionally not fishing very well until about March. If you have to fish it during February, try Stones, Egg Patterns and Baetis Nymphs for a chance.

Above the Bridge, put and take section:  Closed until the end of April.

West Carson River Fishing Report – Closed until end of April

West Walker River Fishing Report- Currently flows are 35 + CFS and fluctuating.

Closed above the 395 Bridge until end of April.

Below the bridge is fishing just ok where you can find a fish. Should improve as we get to March. Try Stones, Baetis and Egg Patterns with possible Squala Stonefly Hatch in Early March.

East Walker River Fishing Report- Flows are 20+ CFS.  January 2015

CA section:  Flows are at the minimum and the fish are lethargic but fishable. Midges, Baetis and an occasional egg pattern for best results.

Nevada section: Rosachi Ranch section fishing ok. Wait for the Squalla Hatch in March for more fun fishing! Look for cloudy days for best results.

Little Truckee River Fishing Report- Flows are 150+ CFS. January 2015

Flows are in good shape for this time of year and the bugs are around. Look for Midges, Baetis and Winter Stones. Beetles will take a fish now and again. Look for rising fish in the longer pools!

Truckee River (Ca) Fishing Report- Flows are 20-270+ and variable.

Above the 267 Bridge:  Closed until the end of April.

Year round section (CA) below 267 Bridge.    Intermittingly frozen but on the days the sun shines and the flows are not impeded by ice, the fishing can be pretty good. Midges and Baetis with a few dry fly opportunities on occasion. Sections below Boca inlet have a lot more water and the fish are in better shape. Herschdale area should be the most consistent on the nicer days. Stones, Baetis and Midges for a while!

Truckee River (Nv) Fishing Report: The flows are staying pretty good for this time of the year and the Baetis are starting to pop. The Bigger fish should start eating off of the surface over the next couple of weeks if they haven’t already. Cloudy days are the best as long as it warms up.

Tahoe Area Stillwater’s: January 2015

Pyramid Lake:  Fishing is worth it and better on stormy days. Should only get better as we get into Spring. Take your chances and try for the 20 pound club, 10 pounds doesn’t seem to make much of a splash any longer. Buggers in two colors or a couple of different Chironomid patterns under an indicator. Some action available fishing with larger Tui Chub Patterns as well.

Indian Creek Reservoir:  Thawed and fishing ok right now but could freeze back up any day if it gets cold again. Buggers and Blood Midges are best.

Caples Lake: Ice Fishing for now with marginal ice. Make sure to check conditions before heading out. Some days have been good with a few Mackinaw being landed. Bay Shrimp, Worms, Power Bait and Kastmasters for Jigging!

Red Lake Fishing Report:  Ice Fishing for Lahontan Cutts or Brook Trout. Small piece of Worm or a Small Bay Shrimp. Jigging takes a fish or two with Kastmasters.

Silver Lake fishing report-  Similar to Caples Lake Report.  Fish the Dam area but check for ice safety prior to heading there. Our mild Winter is having an effect on conditions.

Spooner Lake Fishing Report- Frozen…

Marlette Lake Fishing Report:  Closed until Summer

Blue Lakes Fishing Report-   Ice Fishing for those with a Machine. Same baits as Red Lakes.

Get out and fish, the season never ends around here!
