Summer is coming soon!

Summer time is just around the corner here, well in relative terms at least. The past weeks weather has bin amazing and the fishing has bin pretty good too. We are seeing some skwalas on the water and the usual bwo’s and midges in the mix as well. The Truckee has also bin kicking out some nice fish on streamers as well. With the nice weather and lack of fresh snow the river has bin busy for sure. High flows have the fish stacked in soft water and it can be a little tough to move around from hole to hole. I think most anglers are just happy to get a line wet and feel some sun on their faces tho!

With the summer season around the corner here in Tahoe you start to hear people ask each other “so what are you doing for the summer?” Well my question is what are you doing for summer work? This year we will once again be partnering with some of the best Nor-Cal guides to host our annual guide school. With Jordan Romney, Chuck Reagan, and Matt Heron we cover a broad spectrum of guiding opportunities from working with a shop/outfitter to independent guiding to guiding in remote Alaska, walk and wade style to drift boat we have you covered. If a normal nine to five isn’t your thing and you are passionate about not only fishing but also sharing your passion with others then give us a call and we can go over the schedule with you.

Have you ever wondered what it takes?

Have you ever wondered what it actually takes to be a guide? What it takes to actually make the trip happen? What it takes to make a living at it? What it takes actually get people to want to come and fish with you? If the answer is yes we can help.

In just under two months we will be running our annual fly fishing guide school. As you may have seen in our previous post we are expanding our guide school this year to cover even more of what it actually takes to become a pro. We have included guides from other outfits and expanded our curriculum to provide you with a complete picture of the guiding scene. We strive to give you the real deal experience of what it is actually like to take a passion and turn it into a profession.

As a former student of the program I can tell you that it takes more than just being a good angler to become a good guide. This course is not designed to be a “fishing seminar”, however you will become a better angler in the process. As most things you get what you put into it. Completing this course does not magically make you a full time professional guide, but if you are willing to work hard it is a great stepping off point into the industry. I hope you will come join us this spring for what is sure to be our best school yet!
