Fly Fishing in the snow. Little Truckee Fishing report

Is the weather finally here?  Is El nino really going to pull us out of this drought?  Is Mother Nature gonna quit being such a prude? Well, we sure hope so!  The fall air has been nice and crisp lately.  It seems we have finally kicked the warm weather to the way side for a bit.  In the morning have seen the lower 30s and we may even see some mid to high 20s this week in the wee hour before as the sun tries to come up for those spectacular sunrises.  As mountain folk we embrace this cold weather in hopes that it will freeze the ground, so that odd white stuff that has been so rare lately will maybe stick around this year.  We would like to see that weird stuff hang around all summer.  It used to do that.

Yesterdays white filled skies were a welcome sight to say the least.  The parking lot had quite a few cars for the snowy morning.  The fish are in!  But boy are they selective.  They too are over joyed with the new change of seasons.  Small bugs are the main part of their menu.  Tiny little sail boats were very sporadic yesterday.  We didn’t get that blanket hatch that we had hoped for.  There were a few looking up.  But not as many as one would like.  I can only guess the next few weeks will be memorable.  Those nice over cast days should really fire.  But for us any day out on the water is a memorable one.  Much better than a day spent on the couch!
