No matter what mother nature throws at us our guide trips have been doing very well lately. The East Walker River has good flows at 650 cfs and good fishing available in both California and Nevada. We are starting to see a few caddis flies here and there and fish starting to eat caddis nymphs.Plenty of people out lately so be consderate of other anglers around you, work together and everyone can have fun.Fish are responding to all methods lately with water temperatures in the fifties.Nymphs, streamers, dries, whatever your prefernce there has been a time each day for your favorite. My trips last weekend to Sceirine Ranch our private water option did fantastic both days despite the weather.
On the north side of the lake our trips to the Little Truckee have scored on large browns and rainbows even in the higher flows. The flows haveĀ been stableĀ this week at 600 cfs and should make the fishing even better.
Stay away from spawning fish and do not wade through the spawning redds. The redds are clean gravel areas with depressions with eggs in them, leave the visible fish in these areas alone.
Spooner lake has had some good days for stillwater enthusiasts.Numerous cutthroats, rainbows, and tiger trout eating leeches, damsels and midge patterns. We are going to have a great season and should fish well all summer and fall.Book a trip with one of our guides and have a great day on the river.
Good fishing,
