I just returned from Key West and a week of Tarpon fishing. The weather was amazing! We had sun everyday and three of the evenings the water skiing would have been great on the Atlantic Ocean! There were very few fish around the first couple of days. As the week went on, more and more fish showed up on the flats and by the end of the trip we were seeing hundreds a day. We had a blast night fishing one night and had 13 eat the fly, jumped 8 of those and landed two of those. We had already fished 12 hours that day and then fished from midnight to 5 a.m.! I believe that qualified us for the diehard category or whackjobs, I am not sure which. We had multiple shots each day and would jump one most days and landed a few. We had a couple 100 plus pounders on, but I would “accidently” lose them after the first few jumps in the interest of casting to the next one. It’s all about the eat and the jump for me! If you are ever interested in fishing Florida, we know great guides in both Key West and Naples/Marco Island.
