• 2 PM ‐ 6 PM: West Carson River: Introduction to Guiding, Entomology, Reading Water for the Client, Teaching and Guiding Nymph Rigs

Tuesday [East Walker River]

• 6 AM: Meet at shop

• 9 AM ‐ 12:00 PM: East Walker River: Client Engagement; Setting Up Your Guide Trip; Gear Review 

• 1:00 – 6:00 PM: Teaching and Guiding Dry Dropper Rigs

Wednesday [Little Truckee & Truckee Rivers)

• 7 AM - 12 PM: Little Truckee River: Focus on Dry Fly Fishing Techniques

• 12 PM - 1 PM: Lunch @ Hirschdale Market

• 1:30 PM ‐ 6 PM: Truckee River: Focus on Streamer Fishing Techniques

Thursday [Sawmill Lake]

• 7 AM: Meet at Fly Shop

• 8 AM - 9 AM: Sawmill Lake: First-Aid/CPR with EMT/Paramedic

• 9 AM - 4 PM: Teaching and Guiding Stillwater Techniques

  • Filling the Guide Trip - Instruction, Education, Activity, Group Trips, Setting Expectations & Evaluation

  • Guide Trip Logistics: Weather, Rigging, Timing, Planning

  • Marketing & Branding, Professionalism, Conservation & Stewardship

Friday [American River]

• 6:30 AM‐ Meet at fly shop

• 9 AM ‐ 10 AM: Introduction to Drift Boat Guiding

• 10 AM - 4 PM: Fishing from a Drift Boat

Saturday

• Mock-Guide Day

• Lunch with the clients @ Divided Sky in Meyers, CA

• Depart

*Guide School students have the opportunity to return to South Lake Tahoe and participate in a day of Shadow Guiding on a live trip. This is an opportunity to implement your training and coursework in real-word scenarios and is consistently references as a “must do” by students.
