THE FISHING
3 Days fishing some of Northern California’s best trout waters focusing on advanced techniques and best practices taught by some of most passionate and fishy guides on the McCloud River, Hat Creek, and Lower Sacramento River.

THE CAMP
The Outpost camp sits along Squaw Valley Creek just minutes away from the McCloud River. Camp is fully outfitted by our staff and equipped with 2-person canvas wall tents, bathroom/shower facilities, horseshoe pit, walking trails, and more.

THE INSTRUCTION
Instruction will focus on a different river each day and learn advanced techniques to master each trout stream. Around the campfire workshops and guest speakers will share best-practices and years of experience on trout streams around the world.

The McCloud River
The mighty McCloud hardly needs introduction. Trout anglers are drawn to it and dream of wrangling one of its big browns or wild acrobatic rainbows. From technical dry fly presentations to productive streamer and nymphing, this river can stretch your knowledge and ability with a fly rod.

Hat Creek
Northern California’s most revered Spring creek, Hat Creek is home to one of the more picturesque settings to catch wild trout. Stealth and accuracy to create a well placed drift requires practice and Hat Creek affords anglers the opportunity to grow your skills with a solid plan and well-timed mends.

Lower Sacramento River
Big. Wild. Rainbows. And plenty of them. Northern California’s most consistent trout river allows ample opportunity to fight big strong fish. Your guides have decades of experience rowing this river and you’re sure to gain valuable time in the boat. You have to fight fish to get better at fighting fish - this is the place.
The McCloud River Outpost
The Outpost is a 5-acre stretch along Squaw Valley Creek in McCloud, CA. Some of the camp amenities include large fire pit, horseshoe pits, complete outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, dining table and drop tank outhouse.
The campsite accommodations are comfortable and spacious outfitter wall tents from Colorado Tent Company.® Each tent come with 2 padded cots, charging station for electronics, gear bench and lantern.
The tents are on raised decks with covered porches and comfortable seating.
The creek stretches for a 1/4 through the property and is home to resident wild rainbow trout.
Out of the kitchen
Long days on the water call for big meals and we aim to please.
Our outfitters will be handling all your meals while at the Outpost. Using our outdoor kitchen equipped with a 3-Burner Camp Chef, 20” Weber BBQ, and Smoking Barrel.
All food is prepared onsite using fresh ingredients and a little culinary know-how. We take pride in our meals and will always have a few things we like to throw out on the table from time to time.
Enjoy coffee, pastries, oats and parfaits in the morning, appetizers off the river, and full-plate dinners during your time at camp.
We will do our best to accomodate food allergies will work with each angler on the menu.

Advanced Angler Fish Camp at McCloud River Outpost
The Advanced Angler Clinic is a 4-Day deep dive into fly fishing techniques and strategy for targeting trout on Northern California’s best rivers. The knowledge transfers to trout streams all of the world and will anglers the tools to grow your skills. We provide an private, engaging, and fun fly fishing camp at The Outpost where anglers can engage with their guides and special guest speakers who walk, talk, and live fly fishing for wild trout.
INCLUSIONS:
3 Days of Guided Advanced Angling Techniques on 3 different rivers (1 Guide for 2 Anglers)
3 Nights outfitter canvas tent accommodations (double occupancy)
All meals, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages (you are welcome to bring your own libations)
Guide & Special Guest Workshops Covering: entomology; casting techniques, mending, reading water, equipment/gear selection, and more.
EXCLUSIONS:
Valid CA Fishing License and Steelhead card
Sleep system: Sleeping bag and pillow
Anglers are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear but not required. The following list includes items that anglers should bring with them to camp.
WHAT TO BRING: (some items are optional)
4wt, 5wt, and 6wt fly rods with floating line. A sink tip line for the 6wt is a good idea for streamer fishing but not required
Flies for western rivers including dry and nymph flies for caddis, stoneflies, mayflies, and midges.

Technical Fishing Clothing. Layers are important.
Wading Staff
You are welcome to bring your own cooler, chairs table to set up at your tent but these items are not required.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of scheduled trip will receive a 100% refund less a $100 processing fee. Cancellations made within 14 days prior to your scheduled trip will be charged 50% of rates or services. Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled trip will not receive a refund or transfer and will be charged full rates. Guests are responsible for finding a replacement name if they are not able to attend the event within 7 days of the scheduled trip.
